The French brand's new creative director, Hedi Slimane, is taking the "Yves" out of Yves Saint Laurent. The new name is now "Saint Laurent Paris" and is expected to make its debut when Slimane's Spring '13 collection hits stores. However, the iconic YSL logo is not completely going away; shoe soles and makeup products are said to still feature the original YSL logo designed by Ukrainian-French artist A. M. Cassandre. The Yves Saint Laurent brand has become a namesake since its inception in the early '60s and "Saint Laurent Paris" is going to take some getting used to.
Looks like a strange idea to me, why change it?
